Have you ever thought about the last person you’d kill before you die? I’ve thought about it more than I should. I’ve dreamt about it, reveled in it. But how do you kill a man who’s immortal? And how do you do it when your path to him is blocked by someone sent to destroy you?

She stands between me and the man responsible for breaking me so thoroughly that only my wrath survived. The man who’s fed the darkness, nurtured it in ways he never did his own sons. Her loyalty is bound to him. And she’ll do anything to protect him. Even if it means bending me to his will.
